Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood | Ryan Makes a Puppet

Let's spend some time with one of our neighbors!

- Hi, my name is Ryan and I'm at the library and I'm gonna see how they make puppets!

Hi, Carol!

- Hi, Ryan!

Do you wanna learn how to make a puppet?

- Yeah!

- So, Ryan, I brought a bunch of shapes with me today.

Let's look for bodies and wings first.

What do you think?

And then we can figure out legs.

Which one looks most like the shape that you want?

- I feel like this one looks like a flamingo.

Flamingos have long beaks.

- I have a whole bunch of different colors that you can pick from for your bird.

- I think maybe the blue would be good for the wings and then I could make it pink.

- What I'm gonna ask you to do is rip some strips.

Perfect.

And so we ripped our strips.

Now we're gonna dip our finger tips; I dip it in the paste and I touch a piece of paper like this and what we do is just cover the whole puppet.

So it's rip strips, dip your finger tips, slip your strips, skip the drips.

So we're gonna do something called itty-bitty dip, with one finger tip.

Yeah.

And then just rub over it so it gets nice and smooth.

Touch that red, yeah, put it where you want it.

Just take a look at it from every direction and decide if there's one last finishing touch I wanna do or if I feel happy with the way it looks.

- I feel happy with the way it looks.

- Put your stick in.

- Thanks for showing me how to make a bird puppet.

- Oh, you're welcome, Ryan.

- Thanks for coming, neighbor!

Bye!
