The American singer Chester Charles Bennington, who was best known as the lead singer of the rock band Linkin Park, passed away on July 20, 2017. In addition, he sang lead for the groups Stone Temple Pilots, Dead by Sunrise, and Grey Daze.
Following the release of Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which was an international commercial success, Bennington initially rose to notoriety as a vocalist.
The Recording Industry Association of America awarded the album a Diamond certification in 2005, making it the best-selling debut album of the decade and one of the few to ever reach that level of sales.
The success of the band was maintained by Linkin Park’s succeeding studio albums, which ranged from Meteora (2003) to One More Light (2017).
In 2005, as a side project, Bennington started his own band, Dead by Sunrise. Out of Ashes, the group’s debut album was released on October 13th, 2009.
He took over as the band’s lead vocalist in 2013 in time for the band’s own record label, Play Pen, to release the extended play album High Rise on October 8, 2013, but he left the group in 2015 to concentrate solely on Linkin Park.
He performed as an actor in movies including Saw 3D, Crank: High Voltage, and Crank (2006). (2010).
